Is it OK to bump this? I think it's a good opportunity for a talented individual who doesn't necessarily live in Japan or speak Japanese. I think it deserves extra props for openly stating it's open to female-presenting individuals. And it's for anyone who loves video games, how much more of an incentive do you need to apply?
Just try the audition, what do you have to lose?

Actually, that's just editorializing on ANN's part. The original press release and website only say female. And under their preferred skills they do list being bilingual in both Japanese and English as being a huge plus.

Although you're right the website and press release do not specifically state female-presenting, they also do not specifically require all applicants to be female and instead say "female-character." That could be because of a contractual arrangement that prohibits stating a preference for one sex over the other.

Part of the popularity of VTubers comes from being an outlet for expression not limited by the Real World social constructs of gender. I think this editorializing you mentioned is really just another way to look at how VTubing in general makes practical use of technology to support equality and modern gender ideology.
