HIDIVE Android App Launches Chromecast Compatibility
posted on by Alex Mateo
Anime streaming service HIDIVE announced on Tuesday that its Android streaming video app is now compatible with Google Chromecast (first generation and later) digital media players.
The Chromecast digital media player lets users browse for a video on their mobile device or Chrome browser, and then "cast" the video to their HDMI-compatible television via Wi-Fi.
The HIDIVE streaming service launched in June 2017 after acquiring assets previously held by Anime Network Online. The service has primarily streamed titles — including simulcasts and seasonal dubs — that are licensed for home video by Section23 Films and its subsidiaries, though it also has some shows that are streaming exclusive, such as the live-action Lone Wolf and Cub series. Sentai Filmworks president and CEO John Ledford is also the founder and president of HIDIVE.
HIDIVE has since released apps for iOS, Android, Apple TV, and Fire TV. The service launched out of beta with a new pricing plan on April 9 and added an annual subscription option on May 1.
