K-On!! Cassette-Shaped MP3 Player Offered in Japan

The Animate store chain for anime character goods announced on Friday that it will sell a K-ON!! "cassette-shaped MP3 player" this spring for 2,940 yen (about US$35, tax included). The player will be pink to replicate the audio cassette tape that appears in the commercial break bumper eyecatches of the television anime series.
The player and a reversible "AZU-jan!!" jumper jacket (39,800 yen or US$480, tax included) will launch Animate's new "2D Life" product line this spring. The concept of the new "2D Life" project is to recreate the furnishings of fictional characters so fans can put them in their own real-life rooms.
An actual pink audio cassette tape already shipped with the second full album from the anime's fictional Ho-kago no Tea Time band last October. The television station TBS also released an official K-ON!! cassette player for audio tapes last November.
