Merry Christmas — Anime Style (Part V)

Instead of with family, couples in Japan celebrate Christmas together as one of their most important nights of the year, right alongside Valentine's Day. Here are some of the ways that anime/manga/game fans and professionals have been celebrating Christmas this year:

(Click on the thumbnail images to see the original works!)

Hidekaz Himaruya (Hetalia)

Manga creator Hidekaz Himaruya once again celebrated Christmas with the cast of Hetalia.

Thanks to Carrie Krueger for the tip!

Takashi Shiina (Zettai Karen Children)

Manga creator Takashi Shiina also "sang" the song "Koibito ga Santa Claus" (My Lover Is Santa Claus) by Yumi Matsutoya alongside these greetings. As a "special service," he granted a follower's wish for a female version of Kōichi Minamoto for the last art.

Akemi Takada

Character designer Akemi Takada posted this art on December 24 and mused that it is okay to say "Merry Christmas ♡" even on Christmas Eve.

Yana Toboso (Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler)

Manga creator Yana Toboso drew Black Butler's Sebastian as "Black Santa." He also celebrated Ciel's birthday on December 14.

Jun Tsukasa

Illustrator Jun Tsukasa noted that his dakimakura (hugging pillow) of "Santa Milfy-chan" was finally complete for possible sale at Comic Market this week.

There are many more anime/manga/game Christmas greetings and messages out there, so if you know of one we've missed, feel free to let us know in our forums or by email (newsroom at animenewsnetwork.com). Merry Christmas!
