Space Brothers-Inspired Real Escape Game to Take Place in San Francisco, Singapore

posted on by Bamboo Dong

SCRAP, a company that specializes in immersive "Real Escape Games," will be hosting a Space Brothers-inspired event in San Francisco and Singapore called "Escape from the Moon Base."

Here's the premise:

One hour left until you run out of air

“Emergency! Emergency! The base is severely damaged! Cause Unknown!” Suddenly, the alert blares out through the base. You are trapped! There is only one hour of oxygen and seconds are already ticking away. What caused the damage? Is there a way out? Solve the mysteries, escape from the Moon Base, and survive!

The event is inspired by events from the Space Brothers manga and anime, likely the scenario where Hibito finds himself in trouble after an accident on the moon. However, the game's creator "[does] not guarantee that the game will be all about Space Brothers," and specifies that knowledge of the manga or anime is not required to participate in or enjoy the game.

The San Francisco game will be held multiple times from May 22-26 at the Regency Center. Each game will last approximately 1.5 hours and will be conducted in English. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The Singapore event will be held at various times on June 7-8 and 14-15 at the National Design Centre Auditorium.

Scrap has hosted plenty of anime and manga-inspired events in Japan in the past, such as Luffy's escape from Impel Down, an Attack on Titan-inspired escape from a "Certain Fortress Town", and more, but so far, this is their first anime-inspired event to be held in the US. Other US events have included themes like time travel, werewolves, haunted ships, and others.
