Italian Jazz Pianist Releases His Ode to Anime Themes in Tribute Album

Italian jazz pianist Giovanni Mirabassi released an anime theme tribute album titled "Animessi ~Le Château dans le Ciel~ last week filled with songs from Studio Ghibli films, and Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain and Lupin III.

This isn't the first time Mirabassi showed off his love for anime. He previously included a track from Howl's Moving Castle on his album "Prima O Poi" in 2005.

The composer announced his plans for the album earlier this month, saying it was a lifelong dream of his to record an anime tribute album. The CD's track listing includes:

1. Kimi o Nosete, from Laputa: Castle in the Sky
2. Jinsei no Merry-go-round from Howl's Moving Castle
3. Clutch from Cowboy Bebop
4. Hono no Takaramono from Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro
5. Tabiji (Muchu Hiko) from The Wind Rises
6. Yukai na Ongaku I~IV from My Neighbors the Yamadas
7. Kaze no Densetsu from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
8. Gravity from Wolf's Rain
9. Gin-iro no kami no Agito background music from Origins: Spirits of the Past
10. Sakurambo no Minoru Koro from Porco Rosso

Currently the CD is only available in Japan. The official soundtracks for multiple Ghibli films are available on iTunes.
