Monster Hunter Stories Seeks Voice Actors for 2 Felyne Roles (Updated)

posted on by Eric Stimson
Will appear in 34th episode

Starting a career in voice acting is a struggle, as several recent anime have shown. It can take many, many auditions and years of coping with low pay and inconsequential roles before one can establish a reputation as a bankable voice actor, something only realistic for a very few. For two lucky people, the anime Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON just might be that break they seek, since it is recruiting two voices for Felyne characters through a post on the Japanese job board an.

No experience or qualifications are necessary; there are also no age or gender requirements. The recruits will get the opportunity to star alongside professionals like Mutsumi Tamura (Lute), who will offer his advice to the actors before recording. The recording will take place on March 20, and will last for six hours or less. Those chosen will be voicing roles in the anime's 34th episode, which airs on May 28.

The actors will be paid 30,000 yen ($262) for their efforts, and will also get a Blu-ray Disc box signed by the cast and see their names in the cast credits. To apply, those interested have to follow an's Twitter account (@weban) and retweet the tweet seen above. Then those interested can fill out the application here. The application closes on March 12, and the actors will be chosen by March 15.

More and more anime studios are turning to the general public to fill some of their roles. Kokuhaku Jikkō Iinkai recruited voice actors last summer, while Mr. Osomatsu sought a fan to edit anime shorts, menus, and manga books.

Update: Those chosen will get to voice roles in the 34th episode, not for 34 episodes as previously reported. Additionally, the recording session will be on March 20 only, not for multiple days as previously reported.
