Code Geass's Lelouch Gets Keychain, Pen For His Birthday

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Code Geass protagonist Lelouch Lamperouge celebrated his birthday on December 5. To commemorate the occasion, the iconic "bad boy" of anime is getting new merch items: a ballpoint pen and a keychain in the form of a fluffy cat toy.

The pen is coated with lacquer and sprinkled with gold powder, evoking the traditional art of maki-e with modern printing techniques. The pen has Lelouch's name, his silhouette, and the number 1205 on it, referencing his birthday date.

Meanwhile, the keychain takes the form of a cute black cat dressed in Lelouch's Zero costume. There's also a matching brown cat meant to represent Lelouch's best friend Suzaku. The tails have wires in them, making it possible to move them around.

The pen costs 4,950 yen (US$45) and is available for order from Movic between December 5 to January 8. It will go on sale on April 10. The keychains cost 2,000 yen (US$18) each, and are expected to go on sale in May. They can also be ordered from Movic.

The Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion TV anime first aired in Japan in October 2006. A second season, called Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 premiered in April 2008. Director Goro Taniguchi and many of the key staff members returned for the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection movie, which opened in Japan in February 2019.
