posted on by Kyle Cardine
Japanese video game publisher Taito's official YouTube channel began streaming a trailer for the Idol Chronicles idol-raising smartphone game on Wednesday. The game is slated for release for Android and iOS devices this winter.
Basic gameplay will be free, but certain aspects of the game will be available for a fee. Those who pre-register for the game will be able to download Santa outfits for all of the idols.
In the game, the player becomes a manager who works to develop the careers of three idols. The game includes 12 million combinations for players to customize the idols' appearances and will continually add new stages. Taito will hold a Niconico live-streaming event on November 24 to announce the main cast and more details about the game.
The company's tentatively titled Arkanoid vs Space Invaders crossover smartphone game is also slated for release in Japan this winter. Taito released the original Arkanoid arcade game in 1986 and the original Space Invaders game in 1978.
Taito opened a teaser site and began streaming a live-action zombie video for its "Project Z" on Wednesday. The website teases that the "outbreak" of the project is "coming soon" in 2014.
