Yakyūbu Aruaru Book About Baseball Club Life Gets Anime Shorts
posted on by Egan Loo
Yakyūbu Aruaru, a 2011 book about life in a baseball club, is being adapted into a series of television anime shorts this week. The book is based on the sports reports of Kikuchi-Senshu (Kikuchi Player, the penname of Yakyū Kozō magazine editor Takahiro Kikuchi), and it describes what often happens in a typical amateur baseball club. It features one-panel manga by manga artist Tetsurō Kuromatsu.
The anime will have three five-minute episodes that will air on the Ishikawa Prefecture's Hokuriku Asahi Broadcasting station on July 8, 9, and 10. Part of the anime is already being previewed on YouTube:
Byakuya Shobo published the first Yakyūbu Aruaru volume in 2011, and the Yakyūbu Aruaru 2 volume shipped in 2012. The original book inspired the "real baseball club youth comedy" manga Yakyūbu ni Hanataba o ~Knockin' On Yakyubu's Door~ by Kuromatsu, and Akita Shoten is publishing the sixth manga volume on July 8.
