2-part special to debut in Japanese, English this month
HIDIVE announced on Monday that it will stream the two-part television anime special adaptation of Kaiji Kawaguchi's A Spirit of The Sun (Taiyou no Mokushiroku) manga in the United States and Canada. The first part will debut on September 17 at 12:00 p.m. EDT and the second part will debut on September 24 at the same time. The anime will be available with both English subtitles and with the English dub.
HIDIVE describes the story:
After the eruption of Mount Fuji and subsequent tsunamis and earthquakes, Japanese citizens are forced to start over as refugees in surrounding countries after China and the United States assume control of the broken country. Genichiro Ryu tries to navigate life amid the mounting tension between the citizens of two different countries 15 years after the disasters. Can he help resolve things peacefully or is conflict inevitable?
The two-part special debuted on the channel WOWOW in 2006. Masayuki Kojima (Made in Abyss, Monster, Black Bullet) directed the special at Madhouse. Section23 Films' Maiden Japan imprint licensed the special and released it with an English dub in June.
