Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Game's Free Version Launches With Trailer
posted on by Karen Ressler
Square Enix began streaming a trailer for the "Free Edition" of its Dissidia Final Fantasy NT PlayStation 4 game on Thursday to accompany the game's launch. The video begins the same as the trailer that streamed when the game was announced, but expands on it to show more battle gameplay and features.
The free version does not have a story mode, but includes a tutorial and online battle features. The version has four playable characters to choose from that will change each week.
The paid PlayStation 4 version shipped in Japan on January 11, and in Europe and North America on January 30. The game has since launched several DLC characters. The game previously added Vayne from Final Fantasy XII, Locke from Final Fantasy VI, Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy VIII, and Kam'lanaut from Final Fantasy XI. Yuna from Final Fantasy X will join the game as DLC in February 2019.
The Dissidia Final Fantasy arcade game launched in Japanese arcades in November 2015. The game features a 3 vs. 3 battle system, and also includes a summons gauge that players can use to summon Ifrit and other popular Final Fantasy summons when the gauge is full. Koei Tecmo Games' Team Ninja (Dead or Alive series) developed both the arcade game and the PS4 version.
