Kohana Lam has released a new cover EP titled ‘With A Lot of Emotion’. This is her second cover EP, following last year's release of ‘While crying’.
The EP includes a total of five songs, such as online hit ‘My R’ by KurageP, ‘Hated by Life’ by Iori Kanzaki, ‘Sparkle’ by RADWIMPS, ‘Evening Primrose’ by Novelbright and ‘Kawaranai Mono’ by Hanako Oku.
The music video for her cover of ‘Hated by Life’ has received comments from fans not only in Japan but also from around the world, with commenters in English, Korean, Chinese and Spanish saying things like “It brought me to tears” and “You can feel her fragility and her strength”.
The song is originally by Vocaloid producer Iori Kanzaki. Kohana Lam posted videos of her cover of the song to YouTube on September 1, in both 2021 and 2022. September 1 is the date when the number of suicides among young people in Japan is at its highest, and posting her cover of this song twice on this date is a clear indication of Lam's intent to express her feelings, in line with her desire to connect with her listeners emotionally and to explore the subtleties of emotion. For this digital release, the song has received a brand new arrangement with added strings.
